Byron Herbert Reece Farm & Heritage Center Blairsville GA

Byron Herbert Reece was a hill and bottomland farmer who cultivated words and harvested poetry, and from his labor, he became the voice and the soul of a region known as Appalachia.  The farm consists of the remaining 9.3 acres of the Reece family property and is dedicated to enhancing both the knowledge of and appreciation for his writings and honoring his way of life with particular emphasis on his love of nature and his attachment to farming.

Visit the Byron Herbert Reece Farm & Heritage Center from the first of April through mid-November.  Enjoy the mountain farm and beautiful scenery along with the Welcome Center, Gift Shop with local works of craft, art and books by well-known authors and Museum, featuring examples of Reece’s manuscripts, photographs, family furniture and other personal effects.  Wander to the Main Barn with 8 cribs housing farming exhibits and interpretive signage.  Across from Mulberry Hall, Reece’s Study is the Poetry Plaza, a place to reflect on the four seasons through passages of Reece’s writings.
